SAMBA Development Program
We are very excited to announce the beginning of SAMBA’s Development Program!
Program Philosophy
Our premier program is for athletes who aspire to play baseball at the next level and perform to their best potential. We are committed to their individual development and with our skilled team of coaches, believe that we can help our athletes strengthen all aspects of their game. We will get the participants to do things repetitively throughout the program and we will push them outside of their comfort zone in order to produce the results we both want. Simply working on skills they are already good at, will not help them become better. While there will be fun had, we do have high expectations for our athletes and will ask for the commitment to work hard and stay focused on the days they can be with us. We want to make the most of our time together and that is a commitment to you for the investment you are making. We can assure you there will be no sitting around with our feet up on a bench watching your kids roll through drill after drill. Every coach will be hands on working in groups and individually, to help advance these athletes in their unique development plan. The development plans will be communicated clearly with your athlete and updated on a regular basis as growth goals are met. We plan to stay outside working on our amazing diamonds for as long as we can and as long as it is safe for everyone. Over the course of the program, we will be recording a variety of measurables, and video with the athletes and share those results with them during and at the end of the program. It is also important for us to improve their overall athleticism in the off-season by giving them exposure to a variety of other sports in our open gym sessions. Our open gym sessions will be a great opportunity for your athletes to have some fun building relationships with other participants and coaches in the program, while at the same time increasing their skill level and conditioning.
The beauty of this program is that we are not a business and your children are not a commodity to us. We genuinely want to work with each athlete to increase their ability and grow our sport with the best of the best coaches. Not everyone wants to pursue baseball to a college level, but it is nice to give them a chance to hear or understand what opportunities can lie ahead of them if they are willing to put the work in. We have people in place that have experienced this ride firsthand and there will be information sessions available for anyone that is interested in these options. Getting the information early is key to having success on the college journey, for those that are interested in this option. Our Head Instructor, Kurtus Millar, has an extensive network and strong relationships throughout Canada and the US to help provide post secondary opportunities for athletes looking to continue their baseball careers at the college / university level. Another bonus is that most of our coaching staff has played at the college level, or have been drafted by MLB teams, and have also built relationships and gained experiences that will benefit your athlete. Our coaches are very excited to work with the athletes and are extremely committed to their safety, physical, and mental development, and will set important goals in place to help our athletes achieve their own personal goals.

Strength and Conditioning
We have partnered with Tommy Jenkins for the strength and conditioning portion of the program this year. He will be working with most groups on site. Tommy's goal while training our program athletes will be to work on their full range of motion while building long lean muscle with more emphasis on quick explosive speed training. Tommy has two boys playing in SAMBA and has an extensive body of work and experience. He has also been coaching his children in a variety of sports and continues to volunteer his time as an assistant coach with SAMBA. We are grateful and excited to have him join us.
